Purpose
MAP International (MAP), since its inception in 1954, has supported health programs in over 100 developing countries. MAP partners with organizations, missions, and individuals to provide essential medicines and health supplies, prevent and mitigate disease, disaster, and other threats; and promote community health development.
As a part of that mission, MAP established the MAP International Health Fellowship to provide travel scholarships to health students and graduates pursuing global health missions. The purpose of this Fellowship is to encourage lifelong involvement in global health missions by supporting health students and graduates serving the direct health needs of developing world communities.
Scope
Mission Site/Placement Eligibility
Students/graduates are required to secure their own mission placement site. Placement sites are considered in selection of MAP Fellows.
· Christian mission hospitals and other Christian-healthcare facilities are given preference. Mission placements that demonstrate a strong Christian focus and mentorship capacity are also favored.
· Placements that demonstrate direct patient care and/or direct health outcomes for individuals and communities are preferred.
· Although clinical investigation may be included in any individual project, the overall emphasis is on a broad health care experience.
· Mission placements 4 weeks or more in duration are given preference.
A written confirmation of placement acceptance and projected time of service is required.
